Core Speech provides a range of services designed for children and their families.

Communication support for families

Core Speech can support with the following areas:

  • Play skills and social interaction

  • Understanding language and following directions

  • Using language to convey needs, thoughts and ideas

  • Speech sound clarity and pronunciation

  • Stuttering and dysfluency

  • Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

  • Phonological awareness and literacy

Feeding support for families

Core Speech can support with the following areas:

  • Picky eaters

  • Safe eating and drinking (including diet modifications)

  • Fun food exploration

  • Positive mealtime experiences

  • Texture progression (e.g., moving from purees to solids)

  • Developing oral motor skills (e.g., chewing)

Telehealth support for families

Core Speech provides telehealth to make our services more accessible to families who do not live locally but still want to work with Core Speech.

Local families can also access telehealth if they prefer or are unable to attend face to face sessions.

As with face-to-face sessions, telehealth Speech and Language Therapy will be individualised based on a child and family’s needs. It could involve:

  • Parent/carer coaching to empower families to be the agents of therapy

  • Direct work with the child through the computer (e.g., screen sharing)

Specialist Support

Core Speech is proud to offer a range of specialist supports in the following clinical areas

Gestalt Language Processing

Core Speech is experienced in working with children who are Gestalt Language Processors, and Emma has undertaken additional training in the Natural Language Acquisition framework.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Core Speech offers Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy to support children develop optimum oral posture and use of the facial muscles for breathing, speech and feeding.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Core Speech is experienced in providing assessment and therapy to individuals to determine the most appropriate AAC system including low tech symbols, high tech communication devices and switches.

Sounds-Write Phonics Program

Core Speech is trained in use of the Sounds-Write Phonics Approach and offers literacy support for children in pre-school, reception, year 1 and year 2 (e.g., Key Stage 1) to support their phonemic awareness, reading and writing.

Book an initial assessment which provides a detailed picture of your child’s communication or feeding development.

Receive a summary letter or detailed assessment report which outlines your child’s strengths, needs and recommendations.

Access therapy sessions that are tailored to your child’s specific needs and areas for development at a location convenient for you.

Receive resources that are personalised to your child’s therapy goals to enable you to support them at home.

Ensure continued progress with liaison and collaboration with your child’s nursery or school to share information and recommendations.
