Core Speech can support you in designing and producing personalised communication books tailored to your child’s needs, interests, and abilities.

Our bespoke communication books can support children and young people in developing their independence and enabling autonomous communication so that they can unlock their full potential.

Communication books are fully customisable and personalised for the individual. They can contain vocabulary/symbols relating to:

Personal Information
Important People (e.g., family, friends, teachers)
Interests and motivators (e.g., toys, activities, TV shows)
Daily activities (e.g., routines, places in the community)
Food and Drink preferences
Topic specific vocabulary (e.g., clothing, animals, transport)

All our communication books are developed using Boardmaker and licensed PCS Symbols.

Core Speech can tailor the communication book to support an individuals:

We are able to fully customise the layout and design of the communication book to ensure it is accessible and functional for the user including partner-assisted scanning and eye-gaze access.

We can produce communication books for both Analytical and Gestalt Language Processors.

Our Process for Communication Books:

Fill in the Contact Us form to get in touch and arrange an initial call to receive a quote.

Attend a 45 minute 1:1 virtual meeting to discuss the communication needs of the child/ young person with a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.

Submit any required additional information including videos of your child communicating and any assessment reports that have been completed by your local Speech and Language Therapist.

Your personalised communication book is created using Boardmaker and PCS symbols and shared with you for any feedback or amendments to ensure it meets the needs of the user.

The final copy is emailed to you as a PDF to be downloaded and printed yourself, or a physical copy is shipped, depending on your preferences.

Arrange any further 1:1 follow up consultations required to access continued advice and support to ensure successful implementation and use of your new communication book.

The fee for communication books is reflective of the size and requirements of the book which reflect the time taken to design and/or build the book, starting from £150.
